Ray,
On my 1992 S4 there was about 1/2" of slack in the throttle cable. After adjusting it now it seems to be ok. However I do notice that the Gas Pedal does not hit the plastic "stopper" on the floor-board. Is this adjustable on the 92? Or do I need to re-adjust it to have slack.

Thx

cp

For those of us running without Audi's over-engineered "comfort" gas pedal,
it is easy to notice if you have overtightened the throttle cable, as Tom
suggested.

It is easier, however, to have someone floor the throttle, while you rock
the throttle linkage to see if there is still slack to be taken up by the
cable adjustment. Then you will know how much you need to take up, and then
go from there.

DISCLAIMER: The aforementioned assumes the vehicle is not running, i.e.,
"off". To be sure, remove all spark plugs, all gasoline, ignition
solenoid, ignition, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, BOTH PSO's, and battery.
The aforementioned assumes further that you generally drive a Honda Accord
or Ford Tore-ass, and remain unsure as to whether your car is running or
not.

Be careful doing this! Make sure you do not over tighten!

When the pedal is pushed to the floor, the throttle should be wide open.
The adjustment is at the throttle body and is not difficult to figure out.
Trial and error is a good method. Be careful; if you over tighten, you run
the risk of breaking the cable or the linkage.

WRT throttle link adjustment;
So how does one perform this stupid S car trick? I wonder?
And if it's really a five minute adjustment can we just pay for 1/10th
hour or is there an hour minimum?
