I just happened to be at Hoffman Audi today picking up
some "dealer only" parts for my 4kq and S6.  Parts
guys there know me by name - probably a bad thing.

I mentioned I had read about the S6 timing belt
"problems" they had been having lately.  Everyone in
the parts department knew about it, even the parts
supervisor came out of his cubicle to discuss.  Seemed
pretty agitated about the whole issue.

My advice to Richard would be to keep up the pressure-
seems to be getting them pretty worked up over there.

PS- They told me that the engine was definately not
started- hence their offer to repair only the 2 bent
valves/guides instead of replacing the head--quite
contrary to the techs original account of hearing
wierd noises when it was started. Seemed like a lot of
"weaselese" to me.
