Won't make you go faster but for the any few who are sitting out there with
some, similar looking to the urS, genuine burled walnut trim and wondering
how to match the urS color, here's all I know from my own in house
artist/stain mixologist. This is an artistic process so a big YMMV. I
offer this only for some clues. ICBW/ICBW (I Could Be Wright/I Could Be
Wrong:)
Stain with brown mahogany
Seal with a clear Polyurethane
Over glaze with Black Cherry stain
Three more coats of clear poly.
For best results, spray the Poly and sand between coats.
NOTE
This is for the reddish brown wood veneer in an S6 and I'm not sure whether
it would apply to the urS4 color.
All stains are not the same so color may vary
Always test on a sample before doing final piece
Sand with 320 grit LIGHTLY on a small sanding block.
The small 3 x4 x 1/4" piece I had him do for me came out pretty durn close.
It doesnt achieve the total urS gloss, but since the piece I did is barely
visible, it did not greatly matter to me. More coats of varnish should lead
to a higher gloss.
All right then now!
ps I MAY have some of this concoction available for anyone who needs a
small qty., exactly WHEN I couldnt say. Artists ya know!
Cheers'
