[s-cars] auto check system demon removal

Recently purchased a 1993 s4.  Damn flashing burnt bulb indicator and
associated high frequency (read annoying as hell) beep comes on at
random times and will not go away.  I replaced all bulbs, used contact
enhancer, etc. trying to get rid of this problem, but no success.  Local
dealer says "bring it in, we will look at it", which translated into
Audi Factory Trained Service is "we will charge you at least $300.00 to
tell you we do not know what the problem is".  Anyway, if anyone has
experienced a similar problem or knows how to disconnect the idiot, er I
mean the auto check system, please let me know.
