Hi John,

I embraced the same issue only a few weeks ago.  I say "embraced", because I
have a history of replacing things before they are broken, and I have been
waiting patiently for my Bose system to die.  Again, no luck.

My head unit would power up, and I could switch from radio to CD, but no
sound (PERIOD - not even feedback), and I could not change between discs on
the changer.  I immediately suspected that the head unit failed, but in fact
the Bose amp is tied into the system in between the head unit and CD
changer.  The factory Bose amp is mounted with 3 or 4 rivets to the rear
package shelf, just to the left of your ski bag cover.  Over time, and
exacerbated by hard driving :`), these rivets loosen, and the Amp no longer
grounds properly to the chassis.  I pulled the amp, pulled the boards out of
the amp to look for internal shorts, etc.  Buttoned it all back up (torx
head, can't recall the head size).  Bose, the genius idiots they are,
decided to ground the amp itself to the chassis.  Check to make sure that
the amp has a solid connection to the chassis - I found mine hanging by one
rivet.  Okay, I am lying - the amp hung by one amp for many months.  I like
to test the waters.  Reinstalled with self tapping screws, and all is well
again.  I guess that box of stereo equipment will sit in the closet until
spring.

Hi.  I'm a new owner of a 95.5 S6.  I just had the car detailed, and the
radio has gone dead.  I don't think it's the electronic lock-up, because it
doesn't say SAFE.  Rather I see the radio station listing, but no sound.
Anyone have any ideas, please email me at this address.  I'm panicked!!
