Having owned 2 S4s, one with the mast on the rear quarter and one with the
front and rear windscreen mount I can't say that I noticed that much of a
difference in the reception.  I also preferred the uncluttered look of the
windscreen masts

I've also heard that in some cases, mast antennae were retrofitted due
to
customer complaints about radio reception.

I must say that w/ the same head unit, my in-glass antenna is
significantly worse
than my mast antenna ever was.
