I suppose it is possible if you can stuff it between the strut piston and
the opening in the bearing plate after removing the strut bearing at the
top. It may be tough getting it fitted onto the grooves with it all
assembled, but if you have nimble fingers you should be able to fit it. I
would recommend getting them from the dealer. They're cheap enough, ~$10,
and I find they fit better at the bottom than the aftermarket ones. Though
they get compressed enough that it probably doesn't matter.
