[s-cars] Metallic noise

Neil:
I'd bet on a toasted upper strut bearing. The offset of the ECS camber
plates seems to place more stress on the cheap plastic bearing and once the
plastic cracks, there is nothing left to retain the ball bearings.

Got a noise and Paul K you just did the exact same
suspension I have so.............
H&Rs, Bilsteins, ECS camber pates. Now I've been
hearing a metallic "clack" for want of a better word
since the install over certain sharp edged bumps.
Those manhole covers that are 1-2"s below road surface
will do it and seams across the road too.
The noise followed the the suspension install.
Nothing is loose and nothing is worn out and it isn't
the sound a shot rubber suspension part makes.
It sounds like my brothers 16v GTI did when his
springy brake pad tension clips were shot. I have
Big Blacks and Porsche pad silencers but they are
intact.
Anyone hear a similar noise? The springs are the
H&R V8 set and nearly the whole spring is covered in
plastic but I wonder if when the bump is right I hear
the exposed coils smacking each other.
Ideas? Paul, roll down your windows and aim for
bumps.
Neil
