When I purchased my '93, I opted for an aftermarket warranty - something I
had never done before.  The only reason was the problems I had heard of
related to the transmission failures on earlier year UrS4's.  I got 2 years
/ 30K miles for 1,200 on a 93 that had 70,000 miles.  It turned out to be a
blessing as my tranny did fail and now I have a 6 speed courtesy of
Travelers insurance!.  Make no mistake tho, they will drag their feet and
not make it easy on you or the repair facility.  I was constantly on the
phone with their people who were usually less than helpful but persistence
paid off.  Before the warranty had expired, I got a new steering pump and
rack too.
