David,
This is contrary to what I've been told, but YMMV. But don't be surprised
when they don't want to honor the warranty when it fails. The grease on the
shaft would get washed off when driving in the rain, or repeated carwashes,
and let's not even mention salt spray. Don't know about you, but I have
always installed rubber boots to protect the shaft from the elements. And I
have yet to have a boot tear on me.
