Although I hope to NEVER be able to comment on Rod's manhood, I just got a =
ride in his car. I know how everone likes to give Rod crap about his car, =
and his witticisms can sometime sting, but HOLY SH*T is his car fast!!! I =
have driven/been driven in every fast car I can get a hold of, from built M=
ustangs to M3's to stock 911's to 3 different 911 Twin Turbos to a Ferrari =
F355 to a rat-motored '69 Camaro to a race-prepped 944 T to various Corvett=
es to a chipped WRX to a 375 hp RX-7 (shoots fire 4ft at 3-4 upshift). Alt=
hough the '69 Camaro was quicker ( ran 9 sec. quarters) I have never in my=
life seen a more tractable supercar. The 911 Twin Turbo is still the king=
of drivable factory-built hot rods but even in it's current state, Rod's c=
ar will pull it. And he hasn't even put the hot stuff in yet. For all you=
naysayers, I think that there's only so much that Rod can say about his ca=
r without sounding like a complete ass. I doubt that he is willing to put =
his car through the holeshot abuse I have put my car through but I'd still =
bet $500 that his car is close to a 12 flat car, maybe even high 11's. Keep=
in mind that car magazines are willing to beat the cars up pretty bad in o=
rder to get the absolute best acceleration times possible. Real world driv=
ers usually can't (won't) come off the line very well with their own cars. =
Rod's car has truly amazing 3-7k rpm pull. My car will run 1.9 sec 60 ft. =
times, and 9.00 @ 78 mph in the 1/8th mile (94 degrees) yet feels like a st=
ock 2.8 ltr A6 compared to Rod's. I have raced anything and everything in =
most of the cars I've owned--you can be in a 6 sec. 0-60 car and surprise t=
he crap out of a guy in a much faster car just because of driver error, pow=
er band, whatever. Rod's car, however, is in a completely different league=
. Those who insist the new M5 is the 4 door to beat, really don't get it. =
I'm sure it is an intoxicating car but it is no faster than a stock C5 Vet=
te. Hell, even Mercedes has cars nipping at the M5's heels. Twelve flat c=
ars pulling over 110 mph in the quarter are pretty rare. Ones that do it w=
ith comfort and solid, predictable handling while blasting through 10" of s=
now come winter-time are rarer still. I will have to talk Rod into making =
a trip to the nearest 1/4 mile track (3 hrs. away) to validate these wild t=
ales I've been telling.
