[s-cars] cam sensor help

>I have my car somewhat apart looking for the cam position sensor.  My Bentley CD shows it on the back of the head and I'm pretty sure mine is on the front of the block, under the top cam pulley.  I have yet to take ( or figure out how to) the timing belt cover off and could use help in determining what to remove in order to get to the sensor.  I have a 95 S6--usually I can wade through the CD-manual and figure stuff out, but this has me stumped.  Anyone been through this?
