Hey Nic-
Hmmm... what you say you've 'heard' goes against both what I've 'heard' as
well as have recently 'measured and experienced'. Typical of the rumor mill
of course (though I do not mean to imply you don't know what your talking
about 8-)).
Here's why:
WRT ride height, Bob R. and I recently completed my H&R S6+ springs /
Bilstein Sport installation on my '95. Bob came over in his '95 mit Eibach
/ Bilstein Sports. We both run neu S6 Avus'. We measured both cars upon
completion, F&R, from center hub straight up to fender lip. While I don't
recall the EXACT measurements, the consensus was that my car was lower, by
maybe 1/4" IIRC (Bob?).
WRT ride quality, Bob and I actually traded cars for the day the following
Sunday (yes, we're very very weird), to determine the differences. We both
concluded that there was not a TON of difference between the 2 springs,
however, the H&R's were stiffer, rebounded notably better and more
controlled, and did not produce a harsh ride.
WRT Koni's, though I have not driven on them, I considered them when I was
choosing shocks. Everyone I talked to had poor things to say, like poor
longevity, harsh ride, etc. Though again, that's rumor mill.
So, HTH in your spring crusade. Good luck! Bob's actually pondering
swapping his Eibach's out for the H&R's, just needs to determine whether or
not the noted difference is compelling enough to justify the labor involved.
Hey Bob, I DO have more Newcastle for you should you wanna go for it!

Just what the topic says. I know they have been discontinued, but I would l=
ike to have a set. My Bilstein/H&R set up is just not right, not low enough=
and hits hard on Seattle roads. It is my understanding that the consensus =
is the Bilstein with Eibachs goes lower than H&R and rides a little more on=
the comfy side. Maybe Koni's as well? Any input would be helpful. Sorry to=
open up this topic again but really I am just looking to get a set of spri=
ngs that will go a little lower than the H&R's. Thanks in advance and feel =
free to email directly.
