Installing the calipers upside down (with the leading piston being the
large one as opposed to the small one) will not cause any problems at
first (assuming the cross-ever pipe is down and the bleeders are up).
However, you will suffer tremendously tapered pad wear. I.E. the leading
edge of the pad will be slightly worn and the trailing edge of the pad
will be down to the backing plate.
"The rose goes in the front, big guy." or, for those of you not familiar
with obscure movie quotes, in calipers with differential piston bore
sizing, the small pistons come first.
Also, typically these types of calipers have a small arrow cast into the
outer face the shows the direction of rotation that the rotor is
supposed to be turning.
