They work better as phones than hammers. See your local analog phone
company (incumbent local exchange carrier), e.g., Verizon, Southern
Bell, etc., and have them set the phones up for use. You will find them
quite adequate for communication. They communicate with digital phones
via the telephone network. It is unlikely that you can get them to have
the same number as a digital phone.
