I'd agree with Bob, and I'll offer these comments about both Ned
and Jo Hoppen. I've dealt with both of these gentlemen, and I'd say
that they both are doing an excellent job for what they are each doing.
Please note that what they are each doing is not the same thing!
Ned has personally developed modified chip maps and has experimentally
developed a number of map patterns that he knows work well with various
combinations of components. He can offer advice on what will work and
what will not work so well. If you have a set of his chips and later
make a change in car equipment he will reprogram his chips to suite
for a very reasonable charge. He will work with you on modifications.
Jo Hoppen is currently marketing and installing MTM chip sets, it is
the folks at MTM that are doing the development work. Jo certainly
knows what's going on with this stuff, and he has a many year background
of having to know exactly what works and how well. Jo was affiliated
with Porsche for many years, and somebody may have to correct me if I
don't get this quite right. I think Jo was the Porsche racing effort
manager for many years - I don't remember exactly the part he was
playing but the name "Jo Hoppen" was one of the names associated with
helping the Porsche racing successes happen. I believe he was with
Porsche before it became Porsche/Audi in North America, and then he
later became very involved with Audi's rallying successes. I think
he stayed with Audi when Porsche and Audi separated once again. After
he retired from that organization he opened the business he now runs.
I'd vote with Bob, about going with Ned's modifications. I'm sure
that if you later want to upgrade the ECU to support later changes
to your engine & car, Ned will have a way of doing that even if the
current 3.0 Bar sensors are no longer available.
