Mance,
Having been a car salesman for a year, 25 years ago, I would say that
was the best sales experience of my life. Toe to toe, on stage with mr
and mrs america hour after hour answering the same often dumb
questions.. Yikes! It was easy to be cynical but often alot of fun if
you made a game of it. The salesman has a tremendous advantage because
he/she does this 20/30 times per day, the customer once every couple
years maybe. But buyers are liars as they say. The big qualifier was
always "if I could sell you this car today for $xxx, would you buy it?"
Then just shut up and wait for reply.
Bottom line for you I'd say is to write a "poem" to get prospects
interested. Get em out to see the car. If anyone shows, give them the
features and benefits. Find out why they might be interested in the car
and spin your pitch to that. Anyone who shows up is a real good "up"
IME.
It may take a while to get the right price as this is a nitch car. Most
everyone on the list already has their S car unfortunately. Maybe a
consignment deal with a local audi dealer would yield some action; a
cheap alternative to that neu S4/6.
Cant really help too much with internet selling as thats a new
frontier. Write some good prose to get them interested.
My .02
Cheers'
