[s-cars] RE: Samco length

It's doable but not easy... that's why I suggested going with Samco rather
than SFS for the other hoses since they already have the tooling or forms
made.
To get other hoses made this is what's required:
1. Enough members wanting the same extra hose(s), or expect a lot for
that hose...
2. Need initial down payment up front to pay Samco or SFS.
3. Need send Samco or SFS a sample(s) so they can do the "tooling"
(will take a few weeks).
4. This will increase costs which can be reduced if a lot of interest,
but initial tooling is about $300 US per hose and then the regular cost of
the hose.
5. Also need to have the first hose tested for fitment etc.. then
production of the rest made.
So this will take longer (shipping back and forth, tooling, and
manufacturing), cost more (say about $30 US extra per hose for 10 people
wanted, or $15 extra if 20 people wanted them, and so on). If you're not in
a rush and willing to pay more, then yes it's doable!
I have to send an update for the current GP anyway so I'll ask everyone
that's currently signed up if they want to have further hoses made? with the
above restrictions. I was trying to wait until I could figure out shipping
costs, etc...
We would need someone to volunteer with sample hoses, I don't have any! and
I think it would be best to hold this as a separate GP, otherwise you'll
wait forever for the other hoses.
Cheers, /Jamu.
P.S. We currently have a total of 20 members looking for Samco kits, and the
majority wants a full kit. Personally all I wanted was a couple of people so
I could get them cheap myself...what have I gotten myself into !!!??? :-)

If we are have a set of Turbo Hoses made for us, should we consider
having the Radiator Hoses also made for us in Silicone. Not a major failure
area but since the prices are reduced, then now would be the time for a
"permanent fix".
Just imagine every hose in custom yellow, Frank.

I'll try and ring up the Samco rep I talked to and ask if they've
changed the design to accommodate the length and strength issues on the
crossover hose.

FWIW the Samco cross over hose I got from ECS only about a
month ago is
9.25" long. And has some metal rings. Wow.
I think some older versions were only 8.75 with no rings.
