[s-cars] Northeastern S gathering?

Fine day to you all-
After seeing the pics from "Hapfest '02" out in sunny CO, I thought it would
be a cool idea if we could replicate the gathering for some of us
Easterners. Looked like a great time to meet e/o, check out e/o's cars, and
enjoy some fine spirits. I figured I'd throw this one out there as a
preliminary gauge of interest for something like this.
After receiving clearance from the "Tower" (read: wife's blessing), I've
decided that I'd be willing to host something sometime this summer, should
us listers here who might be interested agree this could be a good idea.
Like the ambiguity?
What I envision would be a simple gathering at my house in Tolland, CT,
complete with a BBQ and a cold barrel of something from the motherland. We
just installed a pool as well, and have plenty of space for volleyball,
etc., for those so inclined. Maybe like a $5-10 contribution or something
to defray my hard costs. I'm on a pretty secluded cul de sac, so parking
and privacy work well, and Tolland is very easy to get to from basically any
direction. It's 20 miles NE of Hartford (center of CT), and I live 1.9
miles off of i84, it's a convenient shot from anywhere from ME, NH, VT, MA,
RI, NY, PA, or NJ (or further for those so motivated! It's about 6 hours to
DC...). Accommodations could be considered if the need arose (read: too
many libations).
For reference sake while you consider, I'm 'roughly' 1.75 hours to the ME /
NH (Hampton Beach) border, 1 hour from VT 91 border, 20 miles south of the
MA 84 border, 25 miles West of RI, 1 hour from NY 84 border, 1.75 or so
hours from NJ Tappan Zee, and about 2 from PA. I say 'roughly', as YMMV
seeing as I have a lead foot.
Anyway, I'm thinking of something in either July or August. I've got a
handful of Sat's or Sun's that work for me as of now, and would need to TRY
to get a consensus from all of the 'best' date for everyone (yes, that
promises to be impossible).
So, I've thrown it out there. Now I'll either confirm just HOW big a loser
I really am and get no interest, or I'll be inundated with the population of
a small town cramming into the pool, we'll see. For now, let's run this
thread to gauge interest. Should we determine it's a go of some form, I'll
have everyone email me directly at some point, gather the choice of dates,
menus, etc., and post the findings as they're compiled.
