[s-cars] Front mounted intercooler?

this comment about efficiency of garrett intercooler cores leads me to
wonder if it would be possible to make a drop-in replacement for the
stock S4 intercooler with a garrett intercooler core.  is it worth it?
how much better is the garrett than other intercooler cores?
