Rod, if you look at how I have mine installed:

You'll notice that even though I'm running the Forge valve in blow off (I
have speed density 034efi), the pressure is fed to the side of the valve, or
the top of the diaphram.  What actually opens the valve is vacuum created
during a shift - fed to the top of the diaphram form after the throttle body.
 With this configuration, boost actually holds the valve shut, ensuring no
leaking.  Also, since the valve is not controlled by spring pressure (but
vacuum), the valve can open and close much more quickly, and will only be
open during vacuum conditions.  This is also how the stock Bosch bypass
valves are configured.
