Earlier, Chad Tobin wondered:

I tried to use the Bentley to locate the ground wires for the brake lights and the phone but it isn't very helpful. The most I could find was that the ground for the brake lights is in the "rear harness" but I can find no other mention of the rear harness in the Bentley. Does anyone know where the rear harness is located? Has anyone had a similar popping sound from the phone speaker? I think it also does it when I turn the stereo on. I can hear the pop with the stereo on or off. Could this be something besides a bad ground? Any good guesses?

Something. How about an overdose of Igor's Vodka?
Or maybe your espresso quotient is out of limits?

The cell phone box is located in the trunk. Does that wiring harness
have a ground connection? I'd bet so. If that is common with the stop
light ground, and that common ground wire isn't well fastened to a real
ground, you could be getting brake light current feeding back into the
cell phone box ground.
