Ok here's my version of autobody 101:
Buy yourself some skim coating body filler. Mix with
hardener. Apply lightly over pinholes. sand down flush
with 400 grit. apply flexible bumper primer. sand down
with 600 or 800 grit. paint and clearcoat. wait a
week. polish down with No2 followed by No 9 Meguiars.
Whala!
I'm no expert but followed a restoration book and
learned all this over the last week. Doing my rear
bumper tonight as I write. Did my rear fender and rear
roof pillar last week.I am very pleased with results.
taking your time is the key. Good Luck

Mike, et.al.:

I would like to attempt to repair/hide the chips in my
front bumper.
It
looks absolutely hideous relative to the remainder of
the car.
Actually it
looks like crap no matter to what the comparison is
made.

I have a Mattos (supplier to body shops and such)
close by so could get
some
paint matched there I am sure. My question is what
would/should I use
to
fill in the chips prior to painting. As you might
well imagine, some
of
them are pretty sizable. The folks at the shop would
no doubt have
some
recommendations but I am nonetheless curious what some
of you have
used.

Best regards,
