Just changed my 93 S4 over to Amsoil. Seemed to run much better for the fi=
rst couple hundred miles. Got home this evening and smelled oil burning. =
Looked underneath to see the dreaded puddle. Thought it was the crush ring=
not seated. Turns out the Amsoil must have "cleaned up" the old sludge ar=
ound the pan gasket. I guess the stories are true about changing a higher =
mileage engine (102k) over to synthetic. Looking at the oil pan, I can't t=
ell what all would have to be taken off to change the gasket. Tried tighte=
ning down the allen screws that I could get to with no luck. It's leaking =
from the part that is higher up on the motor. Does this make sense? How b=
ig of a repair am I looking at? Any BTDT? TIA. Brian
