One of the car mags, a few years back, had an article on the press intro
of the then new Toyota Supra. The writer was trying out the turbo Supra
at Laguna Seca, when he saw a Toyota Tercel gaining ground in the
rearview mirror. He was finally passed by said Tercel. When he looked
over, he saw Dan Gurney behind the wheel of the econobox. A truly
humbling experience, no doubt.

Dan was running the Toyota IMSA program at the time. You'd think Toyota
would have had enough sense to keep him off the track, when they were
trying to trumpet their new "supercar".
