In a turbo car, I'm not willing to obstruct any cooling capacity.

Maybe that's over-conservative, but I'm not willing to risk it.

My question stands, even after carefully re-reading your post. Is
cooling an issue with these cars? My guess is, not enough for light(s)
behind the grille to make much of a negative impact.

If you read my original post more carefully, you would
have noticed that I specifically mentioned mounting them
above the grille so as not to interfere with cooling.

What's the difference whether they're in front of or behind the grille
in terms of cooling? Not much would be my guess. My thermostat seems to
be stuck open, to a certain extent, with the engine temps hovering just
over the lowest three ticks, so I'm guessing cooling is not a problem on

Given that the idea is to overpower the IR receiver in the laser gun,
and not ensure even lighting, what's wrong with putting them behind the
grille? A little reduction in output, but o-so-stealthy... -Ian Duff.
