Take it from a co-driver who's BTDT more times than he cares to think
about.  Don't try and brace yourself, you're not strong enough (no one
is).  Plus, if the roof collapses, your arm is going to be hurt.    Best
thing to do is tuck your arms in and hug yourself.

The rules for spins are:
  FWD: When in doubt, both feet out (off the pedals); when in spin, both
feet in (pushing on the pedals).
  RWD: Save your ass, stay on the gas!
  AWD: same as rear.
