[s-cars] No boost with WGFV unplugged

Hi,

I unplugged the WasteGate Frequency Value (WGFV) and took the car for a
drive. In any of the first three gears, I don't see any boost (boost gauge
teed at the ECU registers 0 psi). In the higher gears, I see 1-2 psi on the
boost gauge.

If I recall correctly when the WGFV is unplugged, I am supposed to see
somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 psi. Is this incorrect ?

My limited understanding of the system would suggest that somehow my spring
does not have enough tension to keep the wastegate shut until somewhere near
the magic 12 psi number.. The spring in my wastegate is stock.

The turbo I am running is one of Dave Jone's Garrett turbos, which is
supposed to be equivalent to the RS2 turbo.

With the WGFV plugged in, the car works great. I get 26 psi of boost and that
number is held right to the red line.... I have also connected the turbo
outlet hose bib directly to the wastegate and I see the same behavior, i.e.,
0 psi boost. Hence I know that the valve is functioning properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Achint
