All this vibration talk is pretty interesting. I've also experienced
this anomaly.... twice now. It scares the hell outta me too!
As Angelo described, it also happens to me when going around left hand
sweepers at more than 80 mph. The first time it happened to me I had my
original suspension and KNEW I had a bent right front wheel from earlier
in the day (thanks to a Minneapolis pot hole). It was indeed like a
wicked harmonic resonance. I originally thought I was about to lose my
wheel or something! ;-) After it happened for the first time I
pulled over and checked the torque on all four of my wheels only to find
everything in spec. I chalked it up to the bent wheel and kept it under
75 mph.
Fast forward to last Saturday evening. I'm coming home from Minneapolis
and experience the exact same thing... in, oddly enough, the exact same
place on the road. This time I was really shocked as my suspension is
all new (Eibach/Bilstein, etc) and my wheels are round. :-) I was
inclined to think that it was just this particular corner on I-35 that
was the culprit but now that I hear about other people having the same
wild ride I'm not so sure.
