Whatcha need to do is edit the file *\Bentley Publishers\b5\jars\CD.txt
erase what's in there and type in the directory where you copied the CD
to..

So what I did is copy the 'entire' Bentley CD to C:\A4.
I ran the install and told it to install to C:\A4.
I edited the C:\A4\Bentley Publishers\b5\jars\CD.txt to only have
"C:\A4" in it. EXCLUDE THE QUOTES!
That's it!

Chris,
as I was rebuilding my system the other night (a dual processor MB,
three daisy chained SCSI HDD, WinXP Pro) I tried to do a complete
install, so that there will be no need to pup the CD into the CD-ROM
drive.
For that I have copied the entire CD onto the E:\ drive and performed
the installation from over there, reasoning that the engine would
remember from where it came and subsequently in regular use would be
going to E:\ to get the needed the files. This technique has worked with
numerous programmes before, but for some reason not with the Bentley
manual  EAB5, for the 1996-2000 A4/S4, original version.
What can be done?
