Hi Paul;

You can replace the s-belt by removing the hood latch carrier and the s-belt
tensioner - a 10 minute job to get these off. You need to get creative at
fitting the belt in past the fan, etc. but it can be done - BTDTBFH (been
there done that but forgot how).

I'd say forget about trying the 2084 tool. If you brace it against a
jackstand, you'll probably just lift the front end up as the tool rotates.
You have to use a tremendous amount of torque to loosen the bolt - I used a
6 foot cheater pipe on a two foot Johnson bar - and you want that pulley
held nice and secure while you are doing this. Borrow the proper locking
tool or buy it ( preferrable "used") from Zelanda.

Hello Fred,

You've scared me into thinking about replacing it now!  Do you remember if
it was possible to get at without removing anything major?  There's a fair
chance that I'll do the S-belt at the same time as the T-belt, but it would
be useful to know if it's an easy job if done on its own.

On a related topic, has anyone used tool 2084 on an S6 T-belt change?  I
know there's no front engine mount stub to attach the 2084 to, but I was
thinking about either:
a) bracing the end of 2084 against the ground using an axle stand,
b) mounting the engine mount stub from an old I5 engine so that 2084 can be
used properly.
c) purchasing new equivalent of 2084 - probably not cheap.

Any thoughts?
