[s-cars] oil pressure gauge

Your mechanic is mistaken.
There is a separate fitting on the block for the pressure sender. In the
s6, it is fitted with a hex plug.
You need to use the expensive s4 sending unit, because the threaded bore in
the block is (IIRC) 16mm, while most other VAG pressure senders are 10mm.
BTDT, on my frankendash -- not a difficult mod at all.

Subject: [s-cars] oil pressure gauge
I've been talking with my mechanic about installing an S4 oil pressure gauge
in my S6, replacing the voltmeter.
I have an OE S4 gauge and sender. My mechanic indicated that there's a low
pressure sensing system in the S6 that will be confused if we remove the
existing oil pressure sender and install the one for the gauge, and will
then give me a warning light.
If this is true, I could simply remove the bulb for the warning
light...but...I'd rather not.
I know a couple of you have installed oil pressure gauges in S6s...did you
run into this issue, and if so, what did you do?
Thanks!
