[s-cars] Temp Gauge Doesn't Move in COLD Weather

Cody,
I second...or third or fourth Chad's assessment. Had the exact same
symptoms you are having. hanged my thermostat last weekend (while Chad was
putting on my big brakes)and now it reads about an RCH above the mark at all
times, (even in the near-freezing morning temps here in Columbus) slightly
more in traffic.
Dave's tip-o-the day...Place a big plastic garbage can lid upside down under
your engine before pulling the thermostat to catch the coolant, or perform
the job on your neighbor's lawn.
The old thermostat WILL be stuck in the seat after you pull the cover. Have
vice grips ready, and just show the sucker who's boss.
Dave

Cody,
Sounds like you need a thermostat. Pretty typical in these cars. It's
about a 1/2 hour job but a tad messy. A bunch of coolant will come out when
you remove the t-stat even if you drain the radiator. If you leave the car
sit and run it will warm up but it will cool back down when you drive as the
t-stat usually fails in the open position. Temp guage should read close to
1/2 way even in cold weather.
