the temp gauge in my car has started misbehaving recently.
when i'm driving, the temperature rises gradually and reaches normal.
then suddenly, it starts dropping until it hits rock bottom. it
doesn't seem to have any correlation to highway driving or street
driving. a couple of times, i have switched off the engine, immediately
restarted it, and seen the gauge go back up to normal operating
temperature for a bit.

i've been assuming this is the multi-function switch. correct?
is this an expensive part?
