But Paul, under the constitutional prohibitions against states imposing
restrictions on interstate commerce, what would prevent some one from taking
up occupancy in (you pick your favorite destination) say Hilo Hawaii or a
Radisson in Las Vegas for a coupla weeks or so; buying an extended warranty
for their car, and latter, for job reasons, moving (back) to California?
Will Accel honor / service a warranty for cars that get sick in CA?
Will Accel honor / service a warranty on a car that moves to CA?
Just a thought,
Mike "working hard to get Paul a face to face with the sultry voice on the
other end of the Accel phone line" Pederson

~Sorry for the WOB, here's the feedback from Accel you CA listers asked for:
~
~
~Unfortunately, California state legislature states extended warranties
~are not allowed to be solicited in the State of California via direct
~mail, telemarketing, or the internet. So no, there's nothing we can do.
~I wish we could. I've heard from many would-be customers that
~dealerships are really taking advantage of the fact they know they're
~they only ones that can sell to their residents and charging an
~arm-and-a-leg for warranties. It's really sad. The only thing I can
~recommend is calling their congressman or the Commissioner of Insurance,
~who is Jon A. Tomashoff, tomashoffj at insurance.ca.gov.
