To be honest, it never occurred to me to try and change the front springs/s=
hocks by disassembling in-car.  I've never had a car before where you could=
 remove the strut insert through the top, so I'm used to having to remove t=
he entire strut assembly from the car.  As a result I disconnected brakes, =
driveshafts, swaybar, control arm, etc......  No wonder it was a bitch.  An=
d I did this twice.  Next time I'll have to give the replace in situ approa=
ch a try.
