[s-cars] oil flush question...

Sorry to hear that you are out of work, Tom. Good luck in the job search and
I hope you are back with us soon!
If you have been running good quality motor oil and changing it regularly as
specified by the manufacturer, there should be nothing to flush out. I've
always been uncomfortable with the idea of running an engine on flushing oil
and would never use it. I usually run two quick changes of high detergent
oil through a used car I have just purchased to clean out the engine - this
is a much safer approach.
I had a aquaintance who put a mix of diesel fuel and auto tranny oil in his
TR6 to "flush" the engine. He decided to take it for a short drive around
the block to increase the "flushing" action. You can imagine the
consequences...

Subject: [s-cars] oil flush question...
Hi all,
Hey before I get to my actual question let me say that I'll be leaving the
"list" for a short while since recently I've been informed I'm being
downsized and I'll probably need to spend some real time looking for a job.
8-( Besides, I don't even have an e-mail account outside of work. 8-) As
soon as I either get set up at home or at my next place of employment I'll
be back in the fold...
Ok, enough about that. My question is, what are your opinions of using motor
oil flushes ? You know, the diesel stuff that comes in the can you let idle
around and flushes all the crap out... I've used it with great success on
previous non-turbo cars but wonder if it might do some bad stuff to the t-bo
bearings etc...
thanks in advance,
