I've seen the same proposition floated on several internet boards about Audi
moving away from turbos.   Typically this is attributed to warranty costs
associated with "chipped" cars etc.

I really don't believe a word of it.

IMO, Audi's current marketing game plan is to mirror the successful strategy
used by Porsche.

At the top of the heap, you've got the 911 turbo.  In audi-speak, this
equates to the new "rs" line == factory tuned, turbocharged, low volume
image cars.
Then you've got the lesser 911 models, non turbocharged.   This is where the
v8 s cars will fall.

Audi hopes that most of us, like Porsche owners, will lust after the RS, but
buy the s.

All just my humble opinion.
