Funny you mention that- kind of like my friend who thinks a
Grand Prix is as fast as a 540i.

The A4 2.8 does drive really nicely, esp. with a manual transmission.
Turbo cars often feel slower because of exactly what you mentioned-
turbo lag, the onset of power is slower than with a naturally aspirated
car.

As a daily driver, I think the A4 is great. However, for highway
driving,
nothing beats the UrS, except maybe a K04'ed A6 2.7T or S8.
