[s-cars] tranny noise? Argh...

Paul, this may be the driveshaft front CV. The grease disappears or dries
out from the heat of the exhaust pipes. Starts to make a vibrating and maybe
squeaking noise, under load, mostly in 1st gear. Mine started at about 100k
mikes. Fix is to drop the exhaust system, take it apart and grease it. I had
a shop do it, cause I didn't want to mess with the exhaust. Cost about $100
IIRC. Hope that's your problem. If you want to stop by soemtime, I'll take a
listen. Give me a chance to drive your car too :-).

Here's the circumstances:
1st gear "trolling" through my parking garage, I can hear an audible
drivetrain noise resonate around me. I also hear it when driving with
widows up, inside the car (which is why I'm just noticing it, just starting
to do that here in CT). Happens when I put load onto the drivetrain. Also
hear it 1st gear up my incline driveway (again, load related).
