Hi all:

I'm a new owner of a 1997 S6 (Canadian-spec). I just took delivery today af=
ter purchasing it from an Audi dealer in Toronto and had it shipped by rail=
to me in Vancouver. It has an Audi Assured warranty on it until June 2004 =
or 144,000 km whichever comes first.

Many thanks to all who provided advice (Dave Forgie, Tom Black, Fred Munro,=
Randy Lewis) and especially Andrew Jackson (Toronto Coupe Quattro lister) =
who thoroughly checked it out and helped me make my decision and took over =
100 digital photos of it!

My inital driving impression is that its very smooth and extremely quiet ev=
en compared to my 90q20v. It has lots of power at the top end but the low e=
nd power is less than I expected. It takes a while for the boost to build u=
p, you really have to put your foot on it to make it go fast and casual thr=
ottle inputs results in mediocre acceleration. The steering is very over-as=
sisted especially at parking speeds compared to my 90q and the clutch is a =
little heavier. But other than that I love it and I'm sure I'll get used to=
 the differences.

My immediate plans are to get a used OEM CD changer and euro headlights. Fu=
ture plans are a IA chip and BIRA / porsche brakes. In the next 2 or 3 mont=
hs, I'm plan to do the t-belt, water pump, seals, serpentine, etc. myself u=
sing the Blau tool rental kit (any local listers want to go halfers?).

I look forward to many years of enjoyment and technical support from the s-=
car community.
