[s-cars] Start motor R&B

Hi Richard;
The starter is fairly easy to remove. AFAIK, the braided cable is not
available separately (at least is wasn't when I had this problem with my
Type 44) and if you want to replace it you'll have to make your own. This is
a common problem with the Type 44 cars used in road salt areas. The belly
pan on the UrS cars seems to protect the starter from salt spray, but your
3B doesn't have this protection.

Subject: [s-cars] Start motor R&R
The braided copper cable on my start motor (on my 3B) is corroded and needs
to be replaced. It looks like an easy fix if I take the start motor off and
replace the cable.
1. Is it simple to get the startmotor off and back on?
2. Anyone know if that braided cable is available and replaceable? I know
that VAG has exchange start motors, but all I really need is the cable.
Rich
