[s-cars] SS Brake line sheath?

Hmmmm, I just got DOT approved SS brake lines for my 200 from SJM.
Cheaper than stock. No external sheathing. When I questioned him about
that, he said that being DOT approved it should not be a problem. How
big of a problem is this really? Oh, and I do sense better performance
under hard braking. But that could me old imagination. Kind of look for
hard brake situations...Yeah man, feel those SS brake lines work!!

In reading about SS brake lines (which the good ol' UPS man is bringing
with an ECS stage 2 setup), I'm a bit concerned about road grime getting
in the braid and degrading the line. Has anyone "sheathed" their SS
lines with some poly tubing from Home Depot or something similar to keep
gunk out?
