Folks,
after all those years of searching and confusion, I have finally found
the elusive pollen filter in our cars. It's number: 4A1-820-367, and it
is readily available from Rod for $14.
You'll need to:
1. remove both wiper arms.
2. remove the huge plastic cowl cover.
3. unclip the metal U-shaped clips and remove the small plastic piece
alongside the bottom of the windshield.
4. remove the forward facing 5mm head Allen bolts and remove the metal
piece alongside the bottom of the windshield.
5. remove the three little bolts with the 7mm heads on the top of the
black A/C box in the right corner of the cowl.
6. remove the narrow plastic cover from its top side. Chances are, there
would be an empty slot for the pollen filter, but no filter in it. At
least my '97 didn't have it.
7. drop the 4A1-820-367 into the slot. It is a tight perfect fit.
and now the favourite line from the Bentley: assemble in the reversed
order. :)
I took a few pix. But you'll have to wait until I finish the film,
develop it and scan on my newly acquired film scanner.
