[s-cars] FW: How to remove Headrest?

Brian,

Mark's description is on the money. On the S6, the posts are in fact part
of the headrest, and the headrest posts are held in by "hairpin" clips, as
Mark indicated. If you remove the colored plastic cover that surrounds the
post, you will see two white brackets in which the headrest posts slide.
There is a hairpin-shaped clip that snaps into each white bracket, locking
in the headrest. Remove the clips, and out comes the headrest, posts and
all, including the little colored plastic covers. Throw the covers and
clips in your rear door pockets, forget they are there, and then vacuum them
up at a later date with your mom's central vac. Buy new clips, place those
in the door, and then repeat.

Ray

Mark, that's just the thing: these seats are different. The posts are
a part of the seat. The headrest moves up and down the post (on my
wife's A4, the posts are a part of the headrest so, moving up and down
moves the posts into and out of the seat: you depress the clip and it
slides right out). On the S6, there are no clips to depress, and if
you move the headrest to the top, it stops cold.

Cheers,
Brian
