Steve,

having removed and my fuel rail (accidentally...brain fart -don't ask)
and reinstalled it, I did not have any problems, no gas will spew out
and the injectors went right back in. Now if you go to replace the
actual injectors purchase seals and be prepared for some gas to leak
out, but the system isn't under alot of pressure when the engine isn't
running. The electric fuel pump isn't running. I didn't have much gas
leak at all when I replaced the injectors in my old 1986 4000 SC
quattro.

Now I'll stand by and be informed how wrong I am.
