[s-cars] foolin' w/ da fuel rail

I R&Red my fuel rail a few months... and it was about as straightforward as
it looks. I pulled the fuel pump fuse with the engine running (#17) and let
it stall to relieve as much pressure as possible. Then several hours later
with a cold engine I opened the fuel system. You'll get some leakage when
you break open the connections (wrap with rag and/or can underneith, wear
safty goggles).
Keep in mind that the fuel rail itself contains quite a bit of gasoline.
But because the injectors will come along when you remove the rail, you can
probably remove the whole assembly from the car and then pour most of the
fuel (out the supply line).
Don't know if it is recommend procedure or not, but I used Vasilene on the
injector O-rings when putting it back together. Also took the oportunity to
clean the nozzle ends of the injectors (being careful to wipe the dirt
*away* from the orifices which in my case were bright and clean) as well as
dirt surrounding where the injectors go into the intake manifold. I used a
foam swab dipped in gasoline and was very careful not to knock any dirt down
into the manifold!
Take advantage of having the fuel system open as a good time to change the
fuel filter, too!

P.S. You can "pre-pressurize" the fuel system when you are done by jumping a
+12V hot lead (from an always hot fuse) to fuse #17 to run the fuel pump.
(Make sure the ignition is off when you do this!) Let the fuel pump run for
15-20 seconds to refill the system & filter and purge the air out of the
lines. Besides pressurizing the system, it gives you a chance to check for
leaks before you start the engine.

Hi!
I've got a couple of questions about replacing injectors and the FPR.
It's clear that the fuel rail captivates the injectors and presses them
into the injector ports on the intake manifold. From the looks of it -
it's less than a 10 minute job if properly prepared.
What I'm not sure of and have questions about are:
- assuming I let the car cool, what fuel pressure remains in the system?
(IOW, how much gas will spew?)
- should I prelube the injector seals in any way? with what?
thanks!
