Well another S-fest has come and gone, and I don't think you could have
asked for a better turnout. As has been said by many folks already, this
event was absolutely perfect. Starting out with the most beautiful weather
we've had all year, the greatest bunch of folks you could possibly ask for,
and a great selection of German machinery ranging from Mark Besso's Mom's
Jetta to Brian's GT2. And of course there was the lone British and Italian
entries, Paul's TR3 and Brian's F355 Spyder. Though as Paul and I were
discussing last night, what really makes the event is the people, and the
cars are just an excuse for getting together.

Some of the highlights for me were:

*Hanging out with all the early arrivers on Friday night until 3am (I
decided to head on over to Paul's around midnight figuring they were bound
to still be up)
*Meeting some old friends for the first time
*Getting to chat with a lot of you folks that I've met either at last year's
S-fest or other gatherings
*Ray T. leaving for the Glen and launching his S6, with new improved power,
hanging the tail out almost half way up the street
*Bob Pastore & Paul K. taking off in Bob's ZR1 leaving a couple of pounds of
rubber on the street. And Brian with the GT2 taking off sideways after them
. Each making such beautiful noises in their own unique way. Those two
could be heard for miles as they headed for the highway.
*When they all came back from bringing the GT2 home, Bob's 9yr? old son
Steve? (who had the passenger seat in the GT2) muttering to himself "I want
a GT2. I want a GT2.". And after also getting a ride in the F355 last year
I think he's corrupted for life.
*Bill Perron staring at the F355 Spyder in solitude, admiring every
curve.....for 45 minutes
*Bob P., when it came time to bring the F355 home and he got driving duty,
telling Paul "I'm not going to drive it that hard. It's not my car.". Then
proceeding to absolutely launch it up the street and getting all those
Italian horses to sing all the way.
*Edweirdo Walsh handing over the bug spray to a sweet young thing and
offering to spray her back.... which she politely declined
*Sampling many Belgian Ales during the day, as well as some excellent
Canadian offerings that Vincent smuggled in
*Oh yeah, and there was a lot of S-cars there too

The only disappointment, besides that all the madness and camaraderie
couldn't go on all weekend, was that Pastore didn't bring the Avant this
time as I was surely expecting that he would have upped the ante with his
new improved Water Injection Cooling Kit - Extra Dispersion, also known as
the Pastore Integrated Sewer System - Extended Range (WICKED PISSER).
Apparently his power steering hose was taking a leak of its own.

Many thanks to Paul & Jen for hosting this great event and to Thompson Smith
for putting together the great T-shirts and raffle prizes. See you all
again next year, wherever it may be held.

Bob
