One of my outstanding memories from when I lived in Colorado is of the
multitude of rented SUV's having offroad excursions in the snow going up I70
to the ski areas and, in general, all around once they got up there.  The
fools actually seemed to think that 4wd and a high seat meant that they had
better traction and made them immune to the laws of physics.  And how
quickly they found that 4WD can't do anything under panic braking in the
snow...or was much help getting their behemoths out of the snow once they
got stuck.
