[s-cars] switchblade keys

I know this has been discsussed before, but I am going
to bring it up again anyway!

I borrowed a switchblade style key (3 button-
lock/unlock/trunk)from a co-worker who has a 2000 VW
Passat yesterday, and tried to program my '95.5 S6
(RF remotes). No luck. I recall reading before that a
few people w/ '97 S6s --Igor and Sean I believe, were
able to program it to their cars - although w/ a
reduction in range of the remote. I also recall
reading that Larry- also w/ a 95.5 S6 was unable to
program it.

I then took a look at the family album at the alarm
control unit which seems to be part of the door lock
vacuum pump. The part number for my car would be
8L0 862 257B. I could not locate a different part
number for '97 models- it still lists the "B" version.
 I also took a look at a 2000 a4 in th e FA that I
know has the switchblade style remotes. The FA lists
8L0 862 257 N as a part number. I am curious if this
PN pump/cotnrol unit would allow me to use the
switchblade style remote, or if there is some mystery
intermediate PN that the '97 S6 has that allows it to
use the switchblade remote.

Could one of you guys w/ a '97 S6 that was able to use
the switchblade remotes mind taking a look at your
door lock vacuum pump/controller under the rear seat
and verifying the PN? Would anyone that has an a4 &
switchblade remotes to go along w/ their s-car mind
looking at their pump?

Sorry to interupt the EVO discussions ;)
